Weather

Purpose:

To prioritize the safety of all participants and ensure clear procedures for handling weather-related disruptions.

1. Weather Monitoring

  • League officials will monitor weather conditions using trusted sources (e.g., National Weather Service, local radar) before and during games.
  • Players and families should check official communication channels before heading to the field.

2. Cancellation Criteria

Games may be delayed, suspended, or canceled due to:
  • Lightning within 10 miles of the field
  • Heavy rain resulting in unsafe field conditions
  • Extreme temperatures (heat index above 100°F or wind chill below 20°F)
  • Snow, ice, or other hazardous travel conditions
  • Poor air quality or other environmental alerts

3. Lightning Protocol

  • Immediate suspension of play if lightning is detected.
  • All participants must seek shelter.
  • A 30-minute delay will be enforced from the last lightning strike.
  • If conditions do not improve within 30 minutes, the game may be canceled or rescheduled.

4. Communication

  • Game status updates will be shared via email and posted on the league’s website and social media where applicable.
  • Decisions will be made at least 1 hour before game time or as soon as possible when possible.

5. Rescheduling Guidelines

  • The league will aim to reschedule canceled games within 2 weeks of the original date if possible..
  • If a game cannot be rescheduled due to field or team availability, it may be recorded as a tie or "no contest" at the league’s discretion.
